Because GIS is such a powerful tool and can be so beneficial to everyone, my team and I are involved in lots of different projects within HS2. I get to know lots of people across the organisation, and I also get to learn about lots of different subjects, like archaeology and what goes on in Parliament.
Mike White Geographical Information Systems (GIS) Manager
I see myself as a messenger. To be a good messenger on a project like HS2, you need to understand the people you are working with. I really love building strong relationships with local communities and my colleagues.
Charlotte Bowen Community & Stakeholder Engagement Adviser
I am proud to be part of the team that’s working hard to deliver a challenging and much talked-about project, something that’s of national importance. I also love working with people from so many backgrounds, in so many different areas: architects, property experts, barristers, environmental specialists – you name it!
Joanne Chau Senior Area Engineer
I love working with natural elements like soil and rock. The environment can be constantly changing and it keeps you on your toes!
Javier Escandon Ground Investigation Engineer
I love that I see an immediate impact as a result of my work – for example, ensuring we avoid a listed building or heritage site (many buildings and site are protected by British and international law). It’s also fantastic being part of such a well-known project that will make a difference to millions of people’s lives.
